Permission problems and Terrarium

Hi guys,

Terrarium has a few challenges when it comes to permissions and the server setup.

In global.asax it has an installer that will talk to the event log and write out things that are happening. This requires admin access (or at least elevated privledges to write to the log). If you're running on 2003/2008 server then you can assign an identity to the application pool for that website. Make the identity a local admin and your access issues go away. I don't believe having the app pool running under an admin account is an issue (security wise) for the rest of the box, but YMMV. If you're really against making the account a local admin, then just give them priveledges to write to the event log through a policy.

Additionally in the website folder for the server, you'll need give that account write permissions to the Species\Assemblies folder. This is where .NET assemblies from users who upload their creations go so the account running the website needs write permission to this folder.

Let me know if there are any questions around this and have fun!
